Afebrile case of dengue:A rare case report

Abstract
Amravati district in Vidarbha area of Maharashtra state, India is endemic for dengue. During mid year of 2018 there was ongoing outbreak of dengue. A 18 year old female presented with Vomiting, nausea, severe abdominal pain, headache and severe myalgias with no history of fever at the time of hospitalization in a referral center of Amravati district. Patient distinctively reported no history of fever and remained afebrile during the course of illness.Further evaluation for hematological and biochemical derangements uncovered positive dengue test (NS1 antigen and Elisa test). Both, leucopenia and thrombocytopenia have been used in differentiating dengue from other febrile illnesses, especially in adults. Therefore, in an endemic area, diagnosis of Dengue should be entertained in persons with gastro-intestinal complaint or thrombocytopenia even though afebrile presentation.
