Africa’s Economic Growth:Trends,Constraints And Lessons From Asia

Abstract
Evidently, the African continent is blessed with immense natural resources.However,the abundant resource has not translated into economic prosperity and better condition of living in tandem with the bounteous resources.Available data projects a weak and fluctuating economic growth over the years in comparism with the Asian continent that has similar history.In this paper we chronicle the paradox of weak economic performance in Africa with hindsight on history,theory and the challenges of economic growth and development in Africa,modest effort is also made to highlight the policy initiative of Singapore,China and India as case study to fast-track the pace of economic growth and prosperity in Africa.The paper winds up with policy recommendation for a vibrant and convergent economy.
