AGRICULTURAL EXTENSION SYSTEM AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR IMPROVING THE RURAL POPULATION WELFARE

Abstract
The article considers the role of knowledge and information dissemination for the improvement of the rural population welfare, support for sustainable development of rural areas and improvement of the farming efficiency in the rural areas. The main factors that ensure sustainable development of rural areas and improvement of the welfare of the rural population are presented. Problem issues of the formation of an effective mechanism of the agricultural extension system and ways of their solution are outlined. The key components of the agricultural extension system are characterized.
