Abstract
Artykuł nie zawiera abstraktu w języku polskim. The article attempts at organizing the concepts related to virtual currencies functioning in an orderly manner using the method of available literature references analysis. The terms of "alternative virtual currencies", "digital currencies" and "electronic money" were clarified. The review of cryptocurrency market was also provided, including the characteristics of those of them which present certain specific features. The comparison of bitcoin and the remaining virtual currencies functionality was presented in final remarks, as well as the discussion regarding their future in the perspective of the overlapping real and virtual economics.
