AN ACADEMIC VIEW OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING JOB IN TURKEY

Abstract
An industrial engineering job gets attention both in the world wide and in Turkey. In this study, it is aimed to present the existing situations of working industrial engineers at industry and to reflect their thinking about job in the future. For this reason, the questionnaire were prepared and applied to the 6645 industrial engineers registered to the UCTEA (Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects)-Mechanical Engineers Chambers at 2013, June-July. 437 response are considered for analysis. It has the highest number of response among applied questionnaire to the industrial engineers in Turkey so far. Therefore, it has high possibility to reflect true thinking of industrial engineers. Results are shown in figures and interpreted in the study. This results help to head of industrial engineering departments in academic area, to engineers and managers in production/service sector, and to candidate industrial engineers. In addition, this study lights the way for history of the industrial engineering job in Turkey.
