An Alternative Method in Teaching Turkish to Foreigners: The Audio-Lingual Method

Abstract
This study deals with the Auditory-Linguistic Method. The aim of the study is to introduce the philosophical and pedagogical foundations of the Audiovisual Method, a foreign language teaching method. It is considered as a secondary aim to exemplify how this method will work in teaching Turkish to foreigners. For these purposes, the literature was searched and the principles of the auditory-linguistic method, the techniques applied, the tools and equipment it used, the psychological and philosophical principles on which it was based were searched. And the characteristics of use in language instruction were determined. It was emphasized how to work while teaching Turkish language to foreigners. This study was a qualitative research and the data were collected through a document review. The information obtained from the field was presented in a certain order and the adaptation of the method to Turkish language was exemplified.
