AN ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF HOLES PATTERNS ON COUPLED INSTABILITY OF PERFORATED THIN-WALLED MEMBERS
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2014, Vol 59, Issue 1
Abstract
The buckling behaviour of vertical steel pallet rack columns is greatly influenced by the distribution of perforations punched continuously along their length. To study the influence of the holes patterns on the elastic coupled instabilities of thinwalled members, this paper uses an original modal identification method (based on the Generalised Beam Theory) which is able to provide the pure buckling modes participation (of global, distortional, local nature) in a general eigenvalue buckling mode given by the shell Finite Element Analysis.

EIGENVALUE ANALYSIS OF CURVED SANDWICH PANELS LOADED IN UNIAXIAL COMPRESSION
An energy formulation of a simply supported cylindrically curved sandwich panel loaded in compression is introduced and the corresponding potential energy function is evaluated. The mechanical model of a cylindrically cu...
EFFECT OF DISTORTION ON THE STRUCTURAL BEHAVIOUR OF THIN-WALLED STEEL REGULAR POLYGONAL TUBES
This paper addresses the effect of cross-section distortion on the structural behaviour of thin-walled tubes with single-cell regular convex polygonal crosssections (RCPS) and provides an in-depth view on the underlying...
EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL ANALYSIS OF NOVEL TELESCOPIC DEVICES FOR EARTHQUAKE PROTECTION
The telescopic SERB devices are compact mechanical devices designed for bracing isolation systems. These devices can provide important dissipation of the seismic energy and can generate the necessary force to prevent the...
ON THE POST-EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE DETECTION OF STRUCTURES
The paper introduces an alternative method for evaluation the postearthquake damage in the multidegree of freedom structures with viscous and hysteretic behavior. Assuming damage as a scalar variable is very simplistic....
DYNAMICS MODELLING OF A PARALLEL FLIGHT SIMULATOR
Recursive matrix relations for dynamics analysis of a parallel manipulator, namely the spatial flight simulator, is established in this paper. Knowing the general motion of the platform, the inverse dynamics problem is s...
