Journal Title: Journal of the Human and Social Science Researches - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 4

Abstract

In this study, structural and institutional identity of family which is regarded as an international institution, phases experienced during historical development process and the perspective of conservative thought on the institution of family will be discussed. The most important of family as an identity and institution is that it exists at all societies though in different forms. However, family which is regarded as an indispensable “value” of traditional societies has experienced a structural change together with modernity. Though this change differs from society to society, great majority of the social scientists are of the same opinion that the institution of family is being worn out and dissolved every passing day and the future of this institution is not predicted. In fact the dissolve of family means the disappearance of building block which forms the organic unity and order of society, which is one of the most important reasons that threatens ontological security and increases biological worries of an individual. Favouring especially individualism in the modern societies where a heavy insecurity and uneasiness is experienced about life brought along a cultural corruption and alienation. Therefore, conservative thought had foreseen this and demanded protection of family institution in an absolute manner.
