AN EFFECT OF LIQUIDS WITH VARIOUS PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES ON THE ABRASIVE WEAR INTENSITY OF HYBRID LAYERS DETERMINED USING THE BALL-CRATERING TEST

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2013, Vol 248, Issue 2

Abstract

The authors present test results concerning the resistance to abrasive wear of selected hybrid layers applied for improving durability of forming tools. For tribological testing the ball-cratering test method was used. Two liquids intended for preparation of slurries – deionised water and ethanol were used. The influence of the tested liquid on the abrasive wear intensity of the hybrid layers with the nitriding layer – PVD coating structure was analysed. The explanation of the influence of the liquids used for testing the abrasive wear intensity of the tested hybrid layers has been attempted.
