AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF HOME BASED EXERCISES ON KNEE PAIN AMONG RURAL POPULATION IN MANAKPUR VILLAGE OF DISTRICT PATIALA, PUNJAB

Abstract
BACKGROUND: Knee pain is cause of physical disability, affecting more than 70 million people all over the world. Home based exercises can reduce knee pain and improve physical performance. AIMS: The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of home based exercises on knee pain. METHODS: Subjects were selected by using simple random sampling technique and lottery method was used to allocate the subjects into experimental and control group. Consent was taken and information was taken by interview method. In experimental group, subjects were taught and supervised home based exercises and post-test taken at the end of 28th day. FINDINGS: The results revealed that, after the home based exercises program, there was reduction in knee pain score from 21.6 to 15.6. CONCLUSION: From the present study, it was concluded that home based exercises were effective in reducing knee pain.
