POSTEROLATERAL DISLOCATION OF ELBOW ASSOCIATED WITH FRACTURE DISPLACEMENT OF MEDIAL EPICONDYLE IN ADULT- A RARE ENTITY
Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN ORTHOPAEDICS - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 3
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Simple dislocation of elbow is quite common in adults and managed conservatively. Sometimes it is associated with fracture of one of the condyle, radial head or olecranon and is refractory to conservative treatment. CASE PRESENTATION: We are reporting a case of posterolateral dislocation of elbow and displaced medial epicondyle fracture of humerus which presented one month after injury. Patient was managed with open reduction and internal xation. Additional stability achieved by transarticular xation and ligamentotaxis. Patient could regain adequate stability and movements after physiotherapy. CONCLUSION: All the patients presented with elbow dislocation/ subluxation should be evaluated clinically and radiologically. Relocation of joint should be done as soon as possible with sedation or local anaesthesia. Irreducible and neglected case should be plan for early surgical intervention.
