CREATING WIDE HOLLYWOOD SMILE USING DAMON Q SYSTEM: A CASE REPORT
Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN ORTHOPAEDICS - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
Crowding has been one of the popular complaints of orthodontic patients as a reason for undergoing orthodontic treatment. Crowded teeth not only give an unaesthetic appearance to the patient but also jeopardize the function and proper cleaning of teeth. This results in increased incidence of caries and periodontal problems due to improper brushing and inability of the toothbrush bristles to reach all the surfaces of crowded teeth. Correction of crowding required extraction of a few permanent teeth in the past as a method of gaining space to relieve crowding. With the advent of technological breakthrough the correction of crowding is possible without extractions, with less pain and a reduced overall treatment time. This case report shows the effective non extraction management of a severe crowding case using a self- ligating bracket system, Damon Q system, which otherwise would have been difcult to treat with a non- extraction protocol using the conventional bracket system. Elimination of dark buccal corridors and achieving a fuller and wider smile using Damon Q system have been shown and described in this case report.
