An in depth study of a song of Tagore: Amal dhabal pale legeche

Abstract

The object of study of the present paper is a well known song of Tagore : amal dhabal pale legechhe. It should be noted that this study is confined only to the poetical framework of the song ; the musical aspect is excluded. Our objective is to demonstrate through an in depth analysis of the salient linguistic features of the song, how the underlying theme of the beauty of the autumn clouds has been developed at various levels of the text : phonetic, lexical, syntactic and semantic levels. We have tried to highlight the linguistic elements that distinguish it from other songs of Tagore, composed on the theme of autumn (sharat) .
