ANAEROBIC CAPACITY AND CELL METABOLISM IN TENNIS PLAYERS

Journal Title: Medycyna Sportowa - Year 2006, Vol 22, Issue 3

Abstract

Background. The aim of this study was to define anaerobic capacity in tennis players as well as the influence of short maximal exercise on cell metabolism.Material and methods. Wingate test ? 30 sec. maximal power test on cycloergometer was performed by 8 sportsmen (17-22 years old). Before and 10 min after the test capillary blood was taken out to define the levels of lactic acid (LA) and acid-base balance parameters. In venous blood, taken before and 20 min after the test, the levels of xantin (X), hipoxantin (HX) and uric acid (UA) were analyzed by HPLC-UV method. The obtained results were calculated by basic statistical analysis. Significant difference were estimated by Wilcoxon test for dependent variables.Results. The average level of total work in analyzed group was 17,99 kJ. The mean relative MAP of 10,31 W/kg was achieved between 4 and 7 sec. of the exercise. Short maximal exercise caused statistically significant (p
