Anaesthetic management of patient with pheochromocytoma for laparoscopic adrenalectomy
Journal Title: Medpulse International Journal of Anesthesiology - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
Pheochromocytoma is a neuroendocrine tumor of the medulla of the adrenal glands (originating in the chromaffin cells), or extra-adrenal chromaffin tissue that failed to involute after birth,1 that secretes high amounts of catecholamines, mostly norepinephrine, plus epinephrine to a lesser extent.2 Extra-adrenal paragangliomas (often described as extra-adrenal pheochromocytomas) are closely related, though less common, tumors that originate in the ganglia of the sympathetic nervous system and are named based upon the primary anatomical site of origin. We report a case of a 42 year old hypertensive patient who presented with abdominal pain and was diagnosed to have left adrenal mass Pheochromocytoma, Hypertension, Type 2 DM, Acute Kidney Injury, Coronary artery disease with moderate LV dysfunction.

Study of preoperative and intra operative factors associated with post operative mechanical ventilation following elective abdominal surgery
Background: Most severe form of post operative pulmonary complications is acute respiratory failure, a condition in which respiratory system fails in gas exchange function. Unscheduled admission to the ICU is also a prob...
Dexmedetomidine as epidural adjuvant to Ropivacaine in elective lower limb surgeries
Epidural adjuvants are used to prolong the action of local anesthetic agent so as to have prolongation of motor and sensory block. Dexmedetomidine a newer α2 agonistic agent with predominant affinity to α2receptor, α2:α1...
A study of post-operative analgesia, ambulation and discharge in patient of inguinal hernia repair by tap block versus splash block
Background: Innervation of the anterolateral abdominal wall arises from the anterior rami of spinal nerves T7 to L1. The anterior divisions of T7-T11 continue from the intercostal space to enter the abdominal wall betwee...
A randomized prospective study of the efficacy of dexamethasone or clonidine as an additive to local anaesthetic for supraclavicular block for upper limb surgeries in a tertiary care hospital
Background: Supraclavicular brachial plexus block is one of the most regular techniques of regional anaesthesia employed for upper limb surgeries. In observation of prolonging the sensory block and duration of block, dif...
A comparative study of the efficacy of I.V. esmolol and megnesium sulphate in attenuating haemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation
Problem Statement: The tracheal intubation is a powerful noxious stimulus. During laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation these is cardiovascular stress response. It occurs frequently and results in increased serum concentr...
