Abstract

The article focused on solar electricity as part of a solar energy realm and on photovoltaics as a method for generating electric power. It also involved a comparative analysis of existing power generation technologies by solar cells that can be applied to temperate zones. In addition, the article describes methods and production technologies of polycrystalline, mono-crystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, cadmium telluride and copper indium diselenide cells. As the characteristics of various technologies converting solar energy into electricity were reviewed, the optimum solar cell for the areas in question was identified. The article argued feasibility of utilizing thin-film modules in the territory of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast.
