Abstract
A questionnaire survey was performed to estimate the angling pressure on fish in the mid-sized Drawa River system, north-western Poland, and to asses the potential threat ensuing from anglers’ usage of groundbait. The respondents were 127 anglers from three districts of the Polish Angling Association. An analysis of the questionnaires has shown that the waters of the Drawa River are threatened by the anglers’ pressure in the form off excessive catching of predatory fish, whose presence is vital for a good maintenance of water ecosystems and whose absence leads to ichthyoeutrophication and by overuse of groundbait, which amounted to 39568 kg per year.
