Analysis of changes in the value of the retention force in three-part telescopic crowns system manufactured from zirconia- part II
Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2015, Vol 65, Issue 1
Abstract
Introduction This article is a continuation of an earlier study on the analysis of changes in the force retention of the three-part telescopic crown systems made using CAD/CAM technology. Studies on the retention or tribological problems associated with double crowns systems typically used ranges engagement and separation crowns on level of 10 000 cycles. In times of very rapid development of materials and technologies that can be used in prosthodontics, also in the construction of the double crown may be new solutions and not used so far material combinations. When performing system components telescopic crowns in the CAD/CAM system in order to gain new knowledge and observation of force retention in a long extended period of testing up to 300 000 cycles of engagement and separation telescopic crowns. The aim of the study was to analyze changes in the retention levels in the extended range of the study to 300 000 load cycles in three-part telescopic crown systems made from zirconia in CAD/CAM technology.Material and methodsThe material presented in the first part of the article, where the measurements ended after 30 000 cycles, it was decided to test continue to the border of 300 000 cycles, crowns seizing or complete loss of retention. To perform the measurements used the same post retention test, which was presented in the first part of the article, also used the same method and sequence of measurement with one difference. This study was performed to measure the retention after 1000 cycles three times as distinct from in the first part of the test, where the measurement was performed five times every 100 cycles of engagement and disengagement of crowns.ResultsAll systems in the study group A and two of the three systems in the study group B exceeded the 300 000 cycles. With two further subjected to load samples from the control group only one reached 232 000 cycles in this part of the study, and has seized. Analysis of correlation and regression between changes in the retention levels in groups A and B showed a statistically significant difference, indicating at the same time tends to increase retention levels in group B in the long term follow-up.ConclusionsIt seems reasonable to increase the number of connecting and disconnecting crowns only planned experimental research on issues ranges retention systems for the purposes of the double crown of cognitive and knowledge in the field of mechanics and tribology, but do not have a direct impact on clinical issues. The value of the retention force of telescopic crowns made from zirconia in CAD/CAM technology equipped with an intermediate element is characterized by very high stability, making such a bill of materials to a preferred solution of the clinical side.
