Analysis of historical value and Fiction Elements in Salamanand Absal by Abdolrahman Jami

Abstract
Several lyricpoems collections, especially the mystic ones, might be found in Persian literature history whose original stories are non-native and are rooted in foreign cultures and nations. One of the most well-known cases in this regard is Salaman and Absal which is so deeply integrated with Persian literature that reminds no reader of its foreign origin. Jami’s Salaman-and-Absal is one of the most symbolic poems collections of the Persian lyric literature. In this regard, most literary scholars have focused on decoding its symbolic components and finding equivalents for them, so that historical significance of these two names- Salaman and Absal- and the collection’s narrative composition have been less regarded. This article aims at investigating the significance of the two names and analyzing the narrative composition of this collection based on modern narrative techniques.
