Analysis of repigmentation patterns in vitiligo lesions treated by 308-nm excimer lamp and 308-nm excimer laser

Journal Title: Journal of Air Force Medical University - Year 2023, Vol 44, Issue 8

Abstract

Objective To summarize the repigmentation patterns in vitiligo lesions treated by 308-nm excimer laser and 308-nm excimer lamp, and to analyze the factors affecting the repigmentation patterns. Methods A total of 79 vitiligo patients (39 males and 40 females) were enrolled in the study. A total of 143 lesions were observed and recorded, and they were divided into 308-nm excimer laser therapy group and 308-nm excimer lamp therapy group, according to the conventional treatment plan. The repigmentation patterns in vitiligo lesions were evaluated once a month and recorded 3 consecutive times, and the evaluation was repeated 6 months later. The basic information and related indicators of vitiligo were collected to analyze the correlation between clinical information and repigmentation patterns of vitiligo patients. Results After treatment, 62 lesions (43. 3% ) showed perifollicular repigmentation pattern, 40 lesions (28. 0% ) showed marginal repigmentation pattern, 30 lesions (21. 0% ) showed combined repigmentation pattern, and 11 lesions (7. 7% ) showed diffuse repigmentation pattern. Age, course of disease and anatomical location did not affect the repigmentation patterns of vitiligo. Conclusion There is no significant difference in vitiligo lesions treated by 308-nm excimer laser and 308-nm excimer lamp, and both are mainly perifollicular repigmentation pattern.
