ANALYSIS OF RESPIRATORY QUOTIENT RQ IN PROCESS OF BIOMASS DECOMPOSITION IN THE LAB TECHNICS
Journal Title: Structure and Environment - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 4
Abstract
Biomass biodegradation under aerobic condition was investigated. The source of the biomass was potato samples. The oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide rates were monitored over 24 hours, using a 2.5 L Oxymax ER-10 respirometric chamber. The chamber with a representative sample of biomass was continuously aerated and the changes in the gas concentrations were recorded (oxygen and carbon dioxide). The oxygen uptake is directly linked to the biological activity of the microorganisms and the organic matter biodegradation. Microorganisms consume oxygen in order to decay the easy-biodegradable substrate. The biomass degradation progress under the bio-chemical process under oxidization conditions was described mathematically by linear regression. The fitting of calculated curves were checked by determination coefficient R2.

EXPERIMENTAL MEASUREMENTS OF GRAVITY HEAT PIPE WITH NH3 MEDIUM TO OBTAIN LOW-POTENTIAL GEOTHERMAL HEAT
Earth / water heat pumps using vertical heat exchangers do not require large areas and do not depend on the intensity of the sun’s radiation that strikes the surface of the earth. Vertical heat exchangers work efficientl...
THE EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF CHALCEDONY DUST ON THE REACTION OF ALKALIS WITH REACTIVE AGGREGATE IN CEMENT MORTARS
Chalcedony dust can be used as a mineral additive in cements and concretes. This material can act as a pozzolan and prevent the expansion caused by the alkali-silica reaction. The paper presents the examination of cement...
EFFECT OF SEWAGE SLUDGE DIGESTION ON THE MOBILITY OF HEAVY METALS ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT IN SITKÓWKA-NOWINY
In sewage sludge, heavy metals can be dissolved, precipitated, co-precipitated with metal oxides, adsorbed or associated on particles of biological residue. Heavy metals come as oxides, hydroxides, sulphides, sulphates,...
EFFECTS OF SINGLE-LAYER TRUSS DOME GEOMETRY ON CRITICAL LOAD CAPACITY
The purpose of this article is to estimate the effect of geometric imperfections on critical loads. Special attention was paid to trusses subjected to large displacement gradients and vulnerable to stability loss due to...
IMPACT OF TEMPERATURE ON KINEMATICALLY ADMISSIBLE FAILURE MECHANISMS OF ENERGY-ACTIVE SEGMENTS OF STEEL HALLS
The paper analyses the impact of temperature on kinematically admissible failure mechanisms (KAFMs) of energy-active segments of steel halls. The static scheme of segment construction allows the separation of tilt and be...
