EFFECTS OF SINGLE-LAYER TRUSS DOME GEOMETRY ON CRITICAL LOAD CAPACITY

Journal Title: Structure and Environment - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 3

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to estimate the effect of geometric imperfections on critical loads. Special attention was paid to trusses subjected to large displacement gradients and vulnerable to stability loss due to snapping. The article uses the Lagrangian description for geometric nonlinearities. The truss stability analysis was performed using the Finite Element Method. The equilibrium path was determined using the scalar current parameter of stiffness and method of arc length constant.
