Analysis of volatile components of the peel of four different pummelos cultivars from Meizhou by GC-MS

Journal Title: 广东农业科学 - Year 2018, Vol 45, Issue 1

Abstract

In the present study, the volatile components of essential oils of Jin pomelo,Shatian pomelo, Aolan pomelo, and Mi pomelo from Meizhou city,Guangdong province were analyzed by gas chromatographymass spectrometry( GC-MS). The results showed that there are 62 kinds of volatile components in essential oils, and 31 kinds of alkenes taking the largest part in these components, followed by 12 kinds of alcohols,7 kinds of aldehyds,3 kinds of alkanes,4 kinds of esters,3 kinds of ketones and 2 kinds of other compounds. There were obvious differences in quantities and categories among different kinds of volatile compounds in essential oils,Jin pomelo,Shatian pomelo,Aolan pomelo, and Mi pomelo had 24,35,38 and 34 kinds of components, respectively. There were 12 components in common in the four pomelo essential oils, and the main components were D-limonene and β-Myrcene. The results indicated that although the four pummelo essential oils had similar aroma and volatile components, their qualities differed to a certain extent. These results provided a theoretical basis for further comprehensive development and utilization of pummelo essential oils in Meizhou city.
