Anatomical Acl Reconstruction With Femoral Sided Endobutton Versus Interferential Screw Fixation –A Comparison Of Functional Outcome
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Traumatology & Surgical Sciences - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue 0
Abstract
Objectives: To compare functional outcomes of femoral side hamstring graft fixation with endobutton and with interferential screws in cases of ACL reconstruction. Methods: 28 patients of isolated ACL tear treated with ACL reconstruction between 2010 and 2015 were included. They were allocated to the two groups of Endobuton and Screw fixation based only on their affordability. The affordable were put into endobutton group. They were assessed with Lysholm knee scoring system at 6 months and 1 year. Results: 28 patients aged between 17 and 35(mean: 27.5) with ACL reconstruction were evaluated. The initial Mean Lysholm scale at 6 months and at 1 year in group I was 86.81 and 91.27 respectively and that in Group II was 85.41 and 90.82 respectively. Full range of movements achieved in 100% in Group I and 88% cases in Group II at the end of one year. Conclusion: There is no difference in clinical outcome between the two methods of fixation of hamstring graft on the femoral side if proper care taken to avoid complications associated with interferential screws.
