Annual Increment of Shoots of Deciduous Rhododendron in Botanical Garden of Šiauliai University

Abstract
Rhododendrons could be very successfully grouped by particular phenorhythmotypic features. Information about phenorhythmotypic features of these plants is much more important than traditional phenological data. The distribution of rhododendrons into phenorythmotypes allows summarize and evaluate seasonal development of plants according to indicators. The data analysis showed in this article was based on investigation carried out at the Botanical Garden in 2007–2010. During the investigations of annual increment of shoots 37 deciduous taxa and cultivars of rhododendrons were assessed. According to the average annual increment of shoots, the rhododendrons were divided into phenorhythmotypes of 1) very small increment, 2) medium increment, 3) large increment and 4) very large increment. These results are relevant for grouping different types of rhododendrons intended for planting in green areas of urban territories
