ANTISÉPTICOS ORALES: CLORHEXIDINA, FLÚOR Y TRICLOSÁN

Journal Title: Revista Salud & Vida Sipanense - Year 2020, Vol 7, Issue 1

Abstract

Oral antiseptics like fluorine, chlorhexidine, and triclosan can be found in oral products like toothpastes, mouthwashes, etc. They are a great treatment alternative to combat the development of oral diseases due to their antiseptic, antibiotic, antifungal, astringent and anti-inflammatory activities that favor the remineralization of the hard tissues of the teeth. The use of these oral antiseptics was determined by identifying their biochemical mode of action and the dose of use suitable for periodontal disease treatments, and in the prevention against dental caries. For the development of this review article, the Google Scholar academic search engine was used and 20 articles were selected having as inclusion criteria: that they were in Spanish, that they have been published for less than 10 years and that they show data on chemical compounds of action microbial. The results indicated the biochemical mode of action of the three oral antiseptics, benefits, contradictions, antimicrobial activity and recommended dose in dental use for children and adults, such as chlorhexidine 0.2 - 0.12% in children and 0.2 - 0.13% in adults.; fluorine in 0.05% in children and 0.05 - 0.2% in adults and triclosan in 0% for children, due to its toxicity and 0.2 - 0.5% in adults. Considering the above, it is of great dental interest to know the use and chemical action of the aforementioned oral antiseptics (chlorhexidine, fluorine and triclosan) because in this way the correct dose will be prescribed to the patient without affecting either his general health or health oral
