Application for Automated Recognition of Damage Locations
Journal Title: Romanian Journal of Acoustics and Vibration - Year 2013, Vol 10, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper present an application developed in Visual Basic, able to precisely indicate a damage location for known beam characteristics (in terms of geometry and mechanical properties) and the natural frequencies of some weak-axis transversal bending vibration modes. The application bases on the implementation of a cost function (namely the Minkowski distance) in an algorithm contrived by the authors. It is able to recognize the beam model proper to be used, function on its slenderness, and to identify the beam health state at the beginning of the monitoring process. Afterwards, based on comparison of the frequencies periodically acquired, the application signalizes the occurrence of damage and indicates its position along the beam. The reliability of the implemented algorithm is proved by numerous experiments.

Internal Soundproofing Buildings Isolated by Elastomeric Links from Externally Induced Vibration
Interior soundproofing is a requirement for buildings with special activities where the level of vibration and noise shall be minimal. This paper specifies the essential requirements for the definition of performance vib...
Acoustical investigation of aquatic fittings
Water is an indispensable element for the life. This contributes to the appearance and development of many phenomena, some of them accompanied by acoustical exhibitions. These ones are received by the human being through...
Friction Pendulum Dampers for Earthquake Isolated Structural Systems
Base isolation systems have become a significant element of a structural system to enhance reliability during an earthquake. One type of base isolation system is Friction Pendulum Dampers in which the superstructure is i...
Parameters Influencing the Focalization Produced by a Graded Phononic Crystal
The geometrical distribution of immersed tubes has considerable influence on the propagation of an incident plane acoustic wave. A periodic distribution represents a phononic crystal (PC), which can be perfectly transpar...
