Application of Biofunctional Method in prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient after surgical treatment in the maxillofacial area

Abstract
Prosthodontic treatment of patients after surgical procedures in maxillofacial region is very difficult, due to specific conditions of the prosthetic foundation. Searching for new methods of treatment that could improve the functional and aesthetic outcome seems to be of great importance.In this article the use of Biofunctional Prosthetic System (BPS) in prosthodontic rehabilitation of a patient after surgical removal of maxillae dextri carcinoma, with subsequent radiotherapy of this region is presented. Prosthetic treatment comprised intraoral registration of the centric relation using gothic arch connected with the closed mouth impression technique.Our own clinical observations allows for the presentation of advantages and limitations of the described treatment procedures in the group of patients after surgery in the maxillofacial region.
