Application of complex signals for determining the properties of anisotropic media over hydrocarbons

Abstract
The article studies the propagation of amplitude-frequency-modulated signals over anisotropic media located above oil and gas deposits based on a quasi-hydrodynamic approach. The behavior of the components of the tensors of the permittivity and surface impedance of the medium over hydrocarbons is analyzed. Modeling of the characteristics of the medium above hydrocarbon accumulations for amplitude-frequency-modulated signals from the dielectric constant, modulation index, amplitude modulation coefficient and conductivity of the dielectric filler of the enclosing rocks has been carried out. For the analysis, experimentally obtained parameters of the medium above hydrocarbon deposits were used. Regularities have been established for the change in the phase of the combination component for electromagnetic waves with right-hand polarization as a function of the frequency of the carrier oscillation. The range of conductivities of the medium over hydrocarbons, which affects the imaginary component of the permittivity for right-handed electromagnetic waves, has been determined. The values of the frequency modulation index are established, at which the phase component for electromagnetic waves with right-hand polarization has a zero-crossing point. Recommendations are given for improving electromagnetic methods and equipment for their implementation in order to increase the accuracy of determining the boundaries of hydrocarbon deposits based on complex signals. The ways of increasing the information content of electromagnetic methods of electrical prospecting are shown. The research results can be applied in the systems of prospecting geophysics.
