Application of Computational Intelligence for Solving Economic Load Dispatch Problem

Abstract

This paper presents the application of computational intelligence for solving economic load dispatch (ELD) problem. A novel hybrid particle swarm optimization and gravitational search algorithm (PSO-GSA) is employed to ELD problem so as to minimize the total generation cost when considering the linear and non linear constraints. To illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, a standard of six-unit thermal power plant (IEEE 30 bus test system) is used. The results show the effectiveness and the superiority of the proposed method over other methods.
