APPLICATION OF GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR OPTIMIZATION OF CHARACTERISTICS OF SMALL WATERLINE AREA TWIN HULL SHIPS

Abstract
The problem of determination of the optimal characteristics of small waterline area twin hull (SWATH) ships is a stochastic nonlinear in nature and has a number of features related to the peculiarities of the design of vessels of this type. It is recommended to use a genetic algorithm to improve the design process through more effective research of the search space. Genetic algorithms are search algorithms based on principles similar to the principles of natural selection and genetics. The article presents the scheme of the search for optimal characteristics using genetic algorithm. The effectiveness of genetic algorithm over traditional optimization methods through the standard test functions is well-proved. The implementation of a genetic algorithm in the form of the developed software to optimize the description of small waterline area twin hull ships is described. Practical value of the work performed is to develop the software to determine optimal characteristics of small waterline area twin hull ships.
