APPLICATION OF GROWTH MODELS FOR AREA, PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTIVITY TRENDS OF SUGARCANE CROP FOR COASTAL ANDHRA REGION OF ANDHRA PRADESH
Journal Title: International Journal of Agricultural Science and Research (IJASR) - Year 2017, Vol 7, Issue 1
Abstract
The analysis of growth was used to find out the trend of a particular variable over a period of time and used for making policy decisions. The growth in the area, production and productivity of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum) crop in Coastal Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh State was estimated using different linear and non-linear growth functions. The necessary secondary data were collected for a period of 40 years i.e., from 1973-74 to 2012-13. Growth rates were computed by using compound growth rates. Trend values were computed to study relative growth pattern. The future projections of area, production and productivity of sugarcane crop in Coastal Andhra region of Andhra Pradesh state up to 2019-20 AD were estimated upon the best fitted growth model. It was observed that quadratic function was the best fitted model for area and production whereas linear function for productivity. It was revealed from the results that area, production and productivityof sugarcane crop was increasing at a rate of 1.19 percent, 1.61 percent and 0.41 percent per annum, respectively.

NATURE OF SENESCENCE IN SIX POPULAR RICE
The objective of this work was to evaluate the pattern of senescence in six popular rice varieties MTU-1001, MTU-1010, MTU-7029, BPT-2231, BPT-3291 and BPT-5204 of Andhra Pradesh. Changes in the chlorophyll content, anti...
Study of Iron Toxicity in Rice Under Varied Concentrations of Iron Solution
Irontoxicity is a wide spread nutrient disorder in the rice especially underrice-rice cropping system. The toxicity of iron is associated with reduced soil aeration due to submergence or flooded soils. It is caused by th...
PLANT GROWTH PROMOTING CHARACTERISTICS OF NON-RHIZOBIAL STRAINS ISOLATED FROM ROOT NODULES OF VIGNA TRILOBATA CULTIVARS
Rhizobacterial strains were isolated from root nodules of Vigna trilobata plants raised in soils collected from four geographically different areas in A.P. India. The strains were identified by 16Sr DNA analysis as Bacil...
