Journal Title: Más Vita - Year 2023, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Introduction: Artificial Intelligence (AI) constitutes a technological tool based on "Automatic Learning" (AA), also known as "Machine Learning" (ML), and "Profound Learning" (AP) or Deep Learning (DL) with artificial neural networks and cognitive computing; which perform data analysis and processing to fulfill a certain function. Objective: To describe the applications of artificial intelligence in neurology and cardiology. Materials and methods: A monographic review study was carried out. A search was carried out in Scielo, PubMed and ScienceDirect with keywords included in the descriptors of this article. Results: The application of AI in the medical context has contributed to the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to various clinical conditions. Therefore, this article aims to describe innovative applications of artificial intelligence in cardiology and neurology during the last decade. An exhaustive review of the available literature was carried out. Conclusion: In neurology, artificial intelligence tools have demonstrated relevant contributions in the approach to stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, among other applications. In cardiology, artificial intelligence has provided important advances in the approach to cardiac arrhythmias, acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, among other clinical conditions
