AS AN EXAMPLE OF INDICATORITY SCULPTURE AND PHOTOGRAPHY AS AN EXAMPLE OF INDICATORITY "THE COMPARISON OF MICHELANGELO'S AND DAVID LA CHAPELLE ON PITA WORKS"

Abstract
Twentieth century marks a period in which new forms and syntheses in the production platform occurred in striking forms. In a broad spectrum from positive science to all art branches, there are new movements that emerged after the classical and the modern period. Postmodernism; poststructuralism; surrealism; Dadaism and minimalism together with the new approaches to art, different and new forms and techniques emerged in the art production environment. In this period, intermediary and intersemiotics as a form of re-creation, formed an important interaction zone (İpşiroğlu, 2010: 11). In this work, also, Michelangelo’s and David La Chapelle’s pieces, Pietà, will be dealt in terms of intersemiotic relations by referring to the approaches of these two artists, their techniques as well as the arrangement and qualities of these two works of art, their imageryand meanings. While analysing the images in David La Chapelle’sPietà which makes allusions to the Renaissance period and Christianity, today’s perception and the old tradition will behandled side by side. While the relation between non-literary art pieces like sculpture and photography are studied in this context, closeness - contrast representations in the other art disciplines will also be discussed. David La Chapelle’s adaptation of the images in the previous periods to the contemporary, the new meanings they now contain, and the allusions will be the main aim of this research.
