AN INVESTIGATION OF PREDICTIVE POWER OF PSYCHOLOGICAL BIRTH ORDER AND LIFE SATISFACTION ON CAREER DECISION MAKING SELF-EFFICACY IN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Abstract
The purposes of this study is to examine whether psychological birth order positions and life satisfaction predict university students’ career decision making self-efficacy, and to compare career decision making self-efficacy of university students according to gender, age and department. The sample of the study consisted of 277 university students from Osmaniye Korkut Ata University. Career decision making Self-efficacy, Psychological Birth Order Inventory and Satisfaction with Life Scale were used to collect data. Regression analysis, t-test and one-way variance of analysis were used to analyze the data. According to findings, life satisfaction predicts university students’ career decision making self -efficacy. Additionally, to psychological birth order, first born and only child positions predict university students’ career decision making, self efficacy but psychologically middle born and the youngest positions predict not. It is found that there are not significant differences in Career decision making, self-efficacy among university students according to gender and age. On the other hand, there are significant differences in Career decision making, self-efficacy between Business Administration and Theology Students.
