ASSESSMENT AND REHABILITATION OF FUNCTIONAL VISION IN LOW VISION CHILDREN
Journal Title: Journal of Special Education and Rehabilitation - Year 2007, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
The low vision students and practically blind students are seeing persons. We must help them to think and behave as individuals who see. Barraga published the first research findings documenting that visual efficiency could indeed be improved in children with seriously impaired vision through a planned learning program in 1964. Basic facts were organized from many disciplines, such as perceptual psychology, learning theory, medicine, and education. Synthesis of these ideas led to conceptualization of the possibility of a process of visual perceptual development in low vision children.
