Assessment of emitter clogging by chemical component on water application uniformity in drip irrigation
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 9
Abstract
Drip irrigation water, delivers fertilizer and other chemicals requirements deliver in precise amount and high frequents directly to the root zone. This irrigation method has many advantages. But emitter clogging may seriously reduce system's performance. In this research, field studies were done for assessment the effect of emitter cloggy on water application uniformity. Using ASAE Ep458 standard, hydraulic uniformity, water application uniformity and emitter performance variation are calculated. Emitter performance variation is used as emitter clogging index. Result shows that clogging due to water chemical component has more effect than hydraulic uniformity in reduction of water application uniformity in drip irrigation system.
