Assessment of perceived stress levels of kick-boxers based on age and gender variables<p>Yaş ve cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre kick boks sporcularının algılanan stres düzeylerinin incelenmesi

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to assess the perceived stress levels of kick boxers based on age and gender variables. 124 kick-boxers (68 female and 56 male) who participated in Interuniversity Kick Box Championship Turkey (Low-kick, Full Contact and Point Fighting) held in 2015-2016 are included in this research. “Perceived Stress Scale” was used for determining the perceived stress levels of sportsmen who participated in this research. Desrciptive statistics in SPSS 22.0 data analysis program and MANOVA analysis are used for statistical analysis of collected data. As a result of this research, it has been understood that self-sufficiency perception scores of the athletes were low and stress/discomfort perception scores of the athletes were moderate. It has also been understood that self-sufficiency perception and stress/discomfort perception of the athletes did differ significantly based on their gender and that male athletes have higher scores in terms of lack of self-sufficiency perception and female athletes have higher scores in terms of stress/discomfort perception (p<0.05). However, it has been understood that perceived stress levels of athletes did not differ significantly based on their age and years spent doing sports (p>0.05). As a result, it has also been concluded that age and years spent doing sports were not significant determinants on their perceived stress level however, it might be concluded that gender was a significant determinant which affects the perceived stress level. ÖzetYapılan bu araştırmada kick boks sporcularının algılanan stres düzeylerinin yaş ve cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmaya 2015-2016 sezonunda gerçekleştirilen Türkiye Üniversiteler Kick Boks Şampiyonasına (Low Kick, Full Contact and Point Fighting) katılan 124 (68 kadın, 56 erkek) kick boks sporcusu dahil edilmiştir. Araştırmaya katılan sporcuların algılanan stres düzeylerinin belirlenmesinde “Algılanan Stres Ölçeği” kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel analizlerinde SPSS 22.0 veri analiz programında tanımlayıcı istatistikler ile MANOVA analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda katılımcıların yetersiz özyeterlik algısı puanlarının düşük düzeyde, stres/rahatsızlık algısı puanlarının ise orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Katılımcıların cinsiyetlerine göre yetersiz özyeterlik algısı ve stres/rahatsızlık algısı puanları cinsiyetlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde farklılık gösterdiği belirlenmiş, yetersiz özyeterlik algısında erkek sporcuların, stres/rahatsızlık algısında ise kadın sporcuların daha yüksek puana sahip oldukları tespit edilmiştir (p<0.05). Buna karşılık sporcuların yaşlarına ve sporla ilgilenme yıllarına göre algılanan stres düzeylerinin istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık göstermediği belirlenmiştir (p>0.05). Sonuç olarak, kick boks sporcularında yaş unsuru ile sporla ilgilenme yılının algılanan stres üzerinde önemli bir belirleyici olmadığı, buna karşılık cinsiyet değişkeninin algılanan stresi etkileyen önemli bir unsur olduğu söylenebilir.
