Assessment of the failure rate of water supply system in terms of safety of critical infrastructure

Journal Title: CHEMIK nauka-technika-rynek - Year 2014, Vol 68, Issue 10

Abstract

The paper characterizes collective water supply system (CWSS) as an element of critical infrastructure and presents types of emergency events that could pose a threat to such a system. The article assesses failure rate of water supply network in the town of Jasło based on damage intensity depending on the type of pipe and type of material, of which the pipe is made of. Moreover, possibilities of CWSS failure rate reduction are also presented. The paper presents possibility of providing water in emergency situations as well.
