Assessment of the influence of selected factors on the effectiveness of fissure sealing procedure in posterior teeth

Abstract
Introduction. Application of sealants to pits and fissures of posterior teeth is one of the recommended methods of caries prevention. The effectiveness of this treatment depends on many factors. Aim of the study. Based on own research and review of the literature current knowledge concerning the assessment of selected factors increasing the bond strength of sealing materials to enamel and enabling the marginal leakage elimination has been introduced. Material and methods. The selected physical, chemical and mechanical factors related to the effectiveness of fissure sealing treatment were assessed. Results. An analysis of the obtained data revealed that the effectiveness of sealant bonding to the occlusal surface could be increased. Conclusions. Based on the current studies, has been concluded that assessed factors have a significant impact on improving adhesion and marginal integrity, and bacterial leakage elimination.
