Association of Familial Mediterranean Fever and Crohn’s disease

Abstract

Familial Mediterranean fever is an autosomal recessive, short, acute, self-limiting disease characterized by attacks of fever and polyserositis, which is common in countries around the Mediterranean. Inflammatory bowel disease is a term used to describe Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease that associated with chronic idiopathic inflammatory. The patient had FMF but she had been well until approximately 20 days before admission, when malaise, fever, abdominal pain, right knee and ankle edema developed. She was taking colchicine. The patient diagnosed as Crohn Disease by endoscopy and histopathology. This case report is presented to emphasize the association of two diseases.
