Journal Title: Larhyss Journal - Year 2011, Vol 9, Issue 9

Abstract

The town of Bechar located in the Western South of Algeria, is characterized by an arid climate with Saharan tendency, an average temperature of 28.80°C and an average precipitation of 72.97 mm, (series 1985– 2006). It undergoes like all the Algerian cities, a keen water demand, proportionally with the increase in the number of the population, and at the rate of increase in 3.6 %, which of 192909 H in 2007, is estimated with 348415 H in 2027. Water in the feeder system of the town of Bechar (737 km), comes mainly from the dam Djorf Torba (80%), and secondarily from the aquifer of Turonien of Ouakda (20%), with flows, respectively of 358.72 l/s and 97 l/s. The town of Bechar is connected with a rate of 96 %, a real equipment of 139 liter/inhabitant/day, and a satisfaction rate of 58%, which is very satisfactory for a similar situation. This work consists in drawing up an assessment on the situation of the various hydrous resources, whose town of Bechar draws its hydrous potential, to provide for the increasing demand for drinking water and AEI (2 400 000 m3 / year) supply irrigation, and to analyze the diagram of the management of these resources.
