Balance of clinical commitments and learning at the work place – Theoretical concepts and challenges

Journal Title: Telangana Journal of Psychiatry - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

The current atmosphere in the National Health Service (NHS) has been changing significantly with respect to the amount of clinical commitment expected of a trainee and the postgraduate medical education. The teaching and learning which is focused on and usually directly involving patients and their problems lies at the heart of medical education. (1) The learning environment has been described by Bloom(2) as early as 1965 when it was suggested that the environment is a combination of conditions, forces and external stimuli that influence the individual in learning. The learning environment could be divided into clinical and academic environment.
