BANDER GATE’S GRAFFITI AS A RESEARCH TOOL OF THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL PHENOMENON OF THE KHOTYN FORTRESS

Abstract
The present research studies Bender Gate’s graffiti of the Khotyn Fortress using materials from archival sources of the Zabolotny State Scientific Library of Architecture and Construction. The suggested analysis was carried out by the criterion of semantic content of drawings from drafts. Graffiti Ottoman origins and signs value were defined. The comparison of archival graffiti with existing lapidary monuments of the fortress was made, coincidence was found. Graffiti and lapidary monuments of the New Fortress’ formation period are presented as an instrument for a comprehensive study of the historical and cultural phenomenon of the Khotyn Fortress.
