Abstract
Clothing is the means of dressing up the human body and covering his private parts. And on the other hand, it also is an indication of his taste and personality. Moreover, along with personality, the dress also shows the person’s or the society’s ethnicity or culture. There are many different types of clothing. Different countries of the world have set national dress codes according to their culture and religious requirements. Even though we have crossed forty-seven years of independence, we have been unable to set up any national dress. Thus it is the demand of time to set up a comprehensive dress code for our beloved nation. This article emphasizes on this issue by exploring cultural and Islamic views. The researcher has followed the descriptive method. পোশাক-পরিচ্ছদ মানুষের দেহ সজ্জিত করা এবং সতর আবৃত করার মাধ্যম। আবার অন্যদিকে তা ব্যক্তিত্ব প্রকাশের অন্যতম বাহনও। পোশাক মানুষের আভিজাত্যের প্রতীক হওয়ার পাশাপাশি তার বিশ্বাস ও মূল্যবোধেরও পরিচয় বহন করে। পোশাকের মাধ্যমে ব্যক্তির কিংবা জাতির ঐতিহ্যের নির্যাস, কিংবা সংস্কৃতির গতি প্রকৃতি অনুভব করা যায়। স্থান-কাল ভেদে পোশাক নানা রকম হয়ে থাকে। পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন দেশ নিজস্ব সংস্কৃতি ও ধর্মীয় চেতনার সমন্বয়ে জাতীয় পোশাক নির্ধারণ করেছে। কিন্তু স¦াধীনতার সাতচল্লিশ বৎসর পার হয়ে যাওয়া সত্ত্বেও আজও পর্যন্ত আমাদের কোন জাতীয় পোশাক নির্ধারণ করা হয়নি। দেশের মানুষের ইতিহাস, ঐতিহ্য ও সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ মানুষের ধর্মীয় চেতনার সমন্বয়ে এবিষয়ে একটি সিদ্ধান্তে পৌঁছা সময়ের অপরিহার্য দাবি। আলোচ্য প্রবন্ধে পোশাক বিষয়ে এ ভূখ-ের মানুষের ইতিহাস ও চেতনা বিশ্লেষণ পূর্বক জাতীয় পোশাক নীতির ব্যাপারে ইসলামের আলোকে দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি তুলে ধরা হয়েছে। গবেষণায় বর্ণনামূলক পদ্ধতি অনুসরণ করা হয়েছে।
