Journal Title: INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 4
Abstract
Medical emergencies are rare medical events that may occur unexpectedly in the dental offi ce during dental treatment. If encountered those events require immediate diagnosis and management to avoid potential consequences. In case of an emergency, the roles and activities of the dentist and the team members should be planned, documented, and displayed. The staff members should be trained and updated in fi rst aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and other emergency procedures. The best offi ce emergency kit is one that is prepared and maintained by the dentist based on his/her needs and easily accessible for immediate use. The knowledge of management of medical emergencies will increase the confi dence of the dental surgeons in their clinical practice.
