Abstract
This article deals with the evolution of the settlement of Cabezo Roenas de Cehegín, paying special attention to its period as a Visigothic episcopal city, although it also presents an analysis of what the change of power in Rome meant for the area, as well as the Byzantine attempt to renew the past empire. Finally, it provides an answer to the emergence of the province of Aurariola (Orihuela).
