Benchmarking as a strategy for continuous improvement of the organization

Abstract
The article introduces the issues connected with benchmarking as a concept of continuous improvement of the organization. The concept was presented in comparison with other modern management systems, such as: Lean Management, Outsourcing and Business Process Reeingineering (BPR). In particular, the emphasis was placed on clarifying the essence of continuous improvement of the organization and the need for skillful change management. On this basis, essence, methodology and different types of benchmarking was presented in detail. Not only the benefits of benchmarking was highlighted, but also some examples of its implementation were presented. The article demonstrates that benchmarking is a fundamental concept of companies, which recognized self – improvement as their strategic goal.
