Contractual forms of internationalization and global enterprises’ development

Abstract

The development of enterprises is determined by different categories of factors and takes place in the conditions of an environment that are diversified and simultaneously matched to the specificity of a given enterprise. In the case of innovative enterprises that operate globally, there is a particularly important role played by an access to the distributed resources with an emphasis on the intellectual capital, which is a source of dynamism of an enterprise’s development. Enterprises can obtain an access to this class of resources in different ways. One of the solutions are the contractual forms of internationalization (i.e. contractual agreements), tailored largely to the specificity of new markets (industries / sectors), in which an enterprise practices an expansion – by the resistance to the risk associated e.g. with the volatility of these markets that results from either their specificity, or the lack of their sufficient exploration by an enterprise. The contractual agreements play also an important role in development of the product innovations, using e.g. the synergy effect that is a derivative of cooperation between the various business units in the global market. The main goal of the article is to answer the question: How may the contractual forms of internationalization influence the development of innovative global companies? An example of Internet industry companies was taken for this purpose. The article contains the theoretical analyses.
