Biofunctional Prosthetic System in implant – prosthetic treatment
Journal Title: Prosthodontics - Year 2016, Vol 66, Issue 6
Abstract
In the group of edentulous patients with difficult prosthetic conditions and limited possibilities to adapt to removable dentures, the prosthetic treatment using conventional methods can be unsatisfying both for the patient and the doctor. This leads to a search for methods of treatment, which allow obtaining satisfactory functionality and aesthetics in such cases. In this article the use of Biofunctional Prosthetic System (BPS) in combination with implant-retained lower prostheses is presented. Prosthetic treatment comprised of intraoral registration of the centric relation using gothic arch tracing connected with the closed mouth impression technique. Based on clinical observations and patient’s feelings, advantages and limitations of the method described were evaluated.
